Let's talk about ATRITOS HC. My name's Dagoberto, Guitarist and founder of the band, which appeared in summer 1989 in Canoas, from the decision of some teenagers show their anger and dissatisfaction with the reality of the time through the punk movement, very little spread out, but very discriminated at the time. The original members were:
- I [Dago "Bark"], guitar, vocals;
- Cristiano "Groo" on vocals;
- Ricardo "Billy" (R.I.P.!) On bass, and
- Marcelo "Moreno" on drums and vocals.
At the time, Brazil had been suffering several falls in its economy, economics and trade plans of the national currency they failed one after another, creating more misery and suffering on the population, all washed down with stratospheric levels of inflation and corruption ever.
The punk movement had come a few years before the city of Canoas, but the scene was weak and its members viewed as marginal, given the fact that the military dictatorship had just dropped (four years before), leaving heavy marks on the collective thinking, which means everything was different as wrong and condemnable.
Even so, we take the project forward, rehearsing with other local bands and the neighboring towns of the Sub Vida band (Esteio City, RS), given space constraints and equipment.The concerts soon followed: the first was in the basement of the Student House in Porto Alegre (1990), along with other bands like Sub Vida, Defeka, K-21, among others.
At that time, the scene was very different from what we witness today, with more tolerance towards minorities that formed the underground culture through the interaction between punks, skinheads, headbangers, etc.. They cohabitated and circulated in the antrum named Oswaldo Aranha Avenue, picking (and reacting) together police, something unthinkable today.
After the first show, others were emerging with increasing frequency, but always in other cities because Canoas City insisted on closing the doors to the punk bands that emerged in increasing numbers. In 1990, we recorded the first demo-tape in the studio (nothing much would change in quality of recordings made in the garage, because the studio was in a backyard in the neighborhood Estancia Velha, in Canoas city). However, this rough demo-tape reached the hands of the producers of the LP compilation "Paranoia Suicida" (recorded by the independent label Sulcos Suicidas [Grooves Switzerland]), which like our job and we were invited to participate in the collection, which - unfortunately - not reached ever happen, because we could not gather the money needed to pay for the studio, recording, etc. .
In 1992 there were some internal differences and the members chose to separate themselves, giving rise to two bands:
- Atritos band - which follows with the same name, created by Billy and the Moreno. They continue the band creating a repertoire of his own and calling our friend Darlan to play bass with Billy (RIP!) becoming the guitarist, and
- The Coma Alcoólico band - Like virtually all the songs and compositions of the time were my own, I joined with Cristiano "Groo" and continued playing our original repertoire. To complete the band, we have the entry of two new members, Ricardo "polenta" on drums and bass Samarone, initiating a period of extremely productive in terms of both new songs and shows and relationships with other bands.
At the time, the Coma Alcoólico performed at the biggest punk festival of the RS (at least until ...), as occurred in Parobé city. Years later, there was the reunion between the Atritos HC! and the Coma Alcoólico, with Samarone output of the Coma Alcoólico, Billy returning to the bass. This period lasted until 1995, when the Ricardo also had to leave the band, ending the activities of the Coma Alcoólico.
The end of the Coma Alcoólico starts the second phase of the ATRITOS, when we knew Alex "Attack", who was drummer for the band DHC (In Canoas, Rio Branco district), also going to be our drummer until mid 1998/99. Its fast and aggressive style of drumming has resulted in a radical change in the sound of Atritos HC!, which has become a faster and more visceral HC.The Groo and Billy left shortly thereafter, the last by problems with drugs, leading off the stigma of Atritos HC! in finding a permanent bass player who, after Billy were just two: the Zulu and Rodrigo. Unless these two exceptions, we have for a long time with the help of musician friends from other bands for help us, as Duda (Andarilhos do Esgoto), Voltàire (Desafio ao Poder / Sobreviventes do Kaos), Bira (Desafio ao Poder), among others. I even took up the bassist of the band for a while, when I passed the guitar to our friend Fabiano, who also lived in the neighborhood of Rio Branco. With the departure of "Groo" the band invited our friend Daniel "Goose" for the job, further increasing the offensive potential of the band followed that with this configuration until mid 1998/1999.
The Atritos HC! returns in 2001 with the original lineup, but Groo left the band in early trials, with me (bark) assuming the vocals. Even in the trio, played outdoors on May 1 at Skate Park IAPI in Porto Alegre, and also outdoors in the Plaza Dona Young lady, in Niterói, Canoas. The last rehearsal of the band was in 2002, when we recess activities. Our late friend Billy struggled to remain drug-desvenciliar until 2003, when he died because a health problem that can not be treated as a result of the degree of impairment caused by the substances consumed. During this period, the members followed different paths in their lives, but always made clear his desire to proceed with the Atritos HC!.
Today my son is a teenager as I was when I started playing, and to my surprise, today he follows my footsteps, enjoying and sharing the same sounds the same way of thinking about the injustices of this world that we live. Thus, the outcome could not be different: the Atritos HC! turned its activities relying on him, Kevin, in the bass, I (Hull) on guitar / vocals, Renato (ÓDIO URBANO BAND) on guitar / vocals, the Cassius (ex DHC /DESAFIO AO PODER BAND) on vocals and with the Daniela (formerly SUBLEVAÇÃO FEMINIL / NEUROSE BRUTAL / KOMBATIVOS) on drums.
So, to all those who like the Atritos HC! during the year 1990 (the breakers "Gullys" in Canoas, festivals "Fried Polenta" in Caxias do Sul city, among many other memorable gigs at that time), here the chance to relive the old school way of doing protest. As the new generation who had no opportunity to experience the underground scene of that time, we count on you to write new pages of history!
